Foster Pups Put The ‘Happy’ In Happiness Happens Month

08th August 2013 Raising Funds for Rainbow Animal Rescue’s Foster Dog Fund

(Fredericksburg, VA) Every dog owner will tell you that the way to find happiness is through dog companionship. As an extension of “Happiness Happens Month,” occurring throughout August, DogCaption Cards ( is helping to spread happiness by donating 50% of sales proceeds, including the special “Happiness Happens Pack”, to Rainbow Animal Rescue’s Foster Dog Fund.

“With the help of donations from DogCaption Cards, we expect to fund spaying and neutering, high-quality food, medications, and much more,” said Esther Williams, Rainbow’s director. “This year we’ve been wiped out by worst case scenario medical expenses and kenneling fees. 100% of our funding goes to saving our dogs. When no one else will help them, or give them a home, we will, we have.”

Rainbow Animal Rescue’s work includes providing life-saving heart worm treatments and surgeries, teeth extractions, emergency kenneling and a special vibrating collar for a young deaf hound named Daisy.

DogCaptionCards co-founder Viveca Stone-Berry, fell in love with Esther’s dogged commitment to save Oakley. “For more than a year, a woman I’d never met kept sending me photos and emails about Oakley, a highly excitable adult pit bull mix,” said Stone-Berry. “He was in a kennel, he was in a foster home, he was back in the kennel, he had a tumor removed, he had heart worm, he was in a new foster home, he was being kicked out of his foster home, he had no where to go and had to go there – FAST, or else. “I couldn’t take it anymore. I agreed to foster him myself.”

“It wasn't a cakewalk, but we succeeded in finding him the kind of ‘forever home’ rescuers dream about, just in time for Christmas!” said Stone-Berry. She’s fostered three more Rainbow Animal Rescue dogs since parenting Oakley.

This adventure is chronicled in an article by Best Friends titled, “Doing it all for Oakley. No More Homeless Pets Network partners rally for special dog”:

“Happiness Happens Month” was created by Pamela Gail Johnson, founder of the Secret Society of Happy People ( It’s celebrated annually in August.

“While the plight of foster pups may seem sad and frightening, just take one look at a DogCaption card, and you’ll be smiling from ear to ear,” said Johnson. “Viveca’s cards and her mission to help our furry bundles of joy are a perfect tie to making happiness happen!”
